Congratulations to Dr. Sousa! The Massachusetts Medical Society awarded Dr. Sousa, a pulmonologist and critical care practitioner, with its 2022 Community Clinician of the Year for the Bristol South District. The annual recognition is given for a physician’s professionalism and contributions to medicine. We are proud to have him here at Truesdale Health.
Dr. Sousa has been on the frontlines during the past two-plus years caring for patients with Covid-19. In 2020, the Fall River Herald News profiled him and his work.
Dr. Sousa is board certified in the internal, pulmonary and critical care disciplines. His practice in the Fall River area since 2004 has been built on impressive credentials. These include a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and residency at the Brown University School of Medicine/Rhode Island Hospital. He trained in pulmonary/critical care at Rhode Island Hospital, Roger Williams Hospital, Memorial Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He is a fellow in the College of Chest Physicians and served on the Fall River Board of Health from 2010 to 2019.
Marvin D. Berman, M.D., President of the Truesdale Health Foundation, said, “The Massachusetts Medical Society is widely respected by medical professionals, so this award is meaningful. Knowing Dr. Sousa personally and professionally, I can say that the Society made a great and highly relevant choice for these times.”
