How Truesdale Health Foundation donations are helping the Fall River community in 2018

Fall River, MA (June 22, 2018) – The Truesdale Health Foundation is once again supporting the Fall River Youth Soccer Association (FRYS), and the North Park American Little League (NPALL), and adding the Wiggle Kids-Highland Pediatrics program to the list of grant recipients. The organizations and programs are noted for their success at delivering excellent, accessible youth programs year after year.

The FRYS will use its Foundation grant for the 2018 season to help reduce player fees. The donation will help enable young athletes with mental and physical challenges to play for free through the TOPSoccer program. And the money will be used to provide scholarships to economically challenged families and individuals, including foster children, children from St, Vincent’s Home and others.

The NPALL will devote its money to replacing 100% of the League’s player equipment, much of which has become unusable, plus the purchase of field maintenance equipment. It will go toward offseason training for participants. It will also be used to provide two deserving young people who demonstrate community involvement, academic excellence, and sportsmanship with scholarships to attend any sports program. Finally, the money will be used to purchase uniforms, gloves and bats for several participants from economically disadvantaged families who will participate for free.

The Foundation’s new recipient, WiggleKids -- in conjunction with the Get Healthy with Highland Pediatrics Program -- combats childhood obesity by providing unique movement activities for children of all ages and abilities. The program goal for WiggleKids and Highland Pediatrics is to foster healthy habits and fitness routines in kids who can in turn pass on these practices to friends, family, classmates and teachers.

Bryan Nadeau, Vice President of the NPALL, said, “The League instills values of sportsmanship, fair play and honesty in young people. The Truesdale Health Foundation, our largest sponsor, gives many community kids the opportunity to play in a first-class program, and learn invaluable life skills.”

FRYS President Brian T. Ferreira said, “The Truesdale Health Foundation’s generosity helps make ours one of the most affordable and robust youth sports programs in the area for our 800-plus Fall River participants. We are grateful for the partnership.”

WiggleKids Founder/President Kimberly Ferrara said of the Foundation’s support, “We are grateful to the Foundation for helping us instill a love of exercise and healthy lifestyles in children who might otherwise not have the opportunity to be exposed to the thinking and activities we offer.”
